Special Interest Groups

Focused communities advancing every field of rheumatology in Iraq.

Why SIGs

Sustainable scientific collaboration

As rheumatology grows across Iraq and scientific meetings are held every year, ILBJH established Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to build sustainable scientific interaction between rheumatologists from every region — each focused on a specific field.

New fields may be established in future as needs arise, in consultation with the Scientific Committee and with final approval from the ILBJH Board of Directors.

  • Nominated members

Clinicians genuinely interested in the group's field, nominated from governorates across Iraq.

  • Member-led activities

Each SIG plans its own activities together with its steering committee.

  • Board approved

Every activity is reviewed and approved by the ILBJH Board of Directors.

To raise awareness among patients with inflammatory arthritis and bring rheumatology experts together to share expertise, facilitate best-practice exchange, and support ongoing medical development.

Objectives
  • Create sustainable scientific interaction among rheumatologists from across Iraq in every field related to inflammatory arthritis.
Plan
  • Patient empowerment & awareness — world-day celebrations, themes and flyers.
  • Educational online programs for fellows, residents and postgraduates: case scenarios, difficult-case discussion rooms, and expert engagement.
  • Reporting unusual or rare side effects of DMARDs.
  • Regular scientific meetings and access to the latest guidelines and publications.
  • Management algorithms and guidelines for each disease.
  • A registry — a unified database of biologic-agent users in Iraq and IA patient registration.
  • Research collaboration and SIG publications.
